how it works
Services
A lovely outdoor space does not need to be big, arrive all at once or cost a fortune. From gardens and borders to balconies, pots and hanging baskets, choose the help you need and work in realistic stages around an agreed budget.
- 01
Advice & garden consultation
A relaxed visit to look at your outdoor space and have a really good chat about your ideas, likes, dislikes and budget. We can explore photos, magazine pictures and suitable plants and ideas so we both have a clear idea of where we are heading.
A plant list or flexible plan can follow where useful — a good conversation may be all you need.

Paths, patios, walls & hard landscaping
Paths, patios, pergolas and walls are usually best completed before planting. My son can undertake suitable work, and I also have contacts with trusted local builders when a project needs them.
The right person and sequence of work will be discussed clearly before anything begins.
- 03
Planting ideas & planning
A planting plan, plant list or clear discussion of what will work in your space, chosen for the conditions, your taste and your budget. We keep talking throughout the work, with a flexible approach as ideas develop and planting areas take shape.
Ongoing garden maintenance can be arranged to see how the planting settles in and offer further advice.
- 04
Plant sourcing
Sourcing plants can be daunting. We discuss what you want to spend on plants, lawn or other parts of the space, and work to an agreed budget. I use trusted local nurseries wherever possible, supporting small businesses while finding healthy plants at sensible prices.
Plant availability, sizes and prices can change, so suitable alternatives are discussed with your budget in mind.

Planting areas, borders, pots & baskets
From a garden border to pots on a tiny balcony or a hanging basket, I can help bring life, colour and joy to your outdoor space. I'll plant in the right position and in the right way, with advice on soil improvement, mulching and when to plant.
You do not need a large garden — or a garden at all. I can also deliver and position plants for you to plant yourself.
- 06
Garden care & follow-up
I can return fortnightly, monthly, twice a year or whenever we agree you need a hand. Alongside practical maintenance, visits give me a chance to see how the space is progressing, spot planting gaps and suggest additions, advice and fresh ideas.
The frequency and work are discussed with you, to suit your space and budget.
Working with your budget
Every proposal is shaped around the garden and the budget available. Existing plants can be divided and moved, while seeds, cuttings and carefully chosen additions help money go further. Tell me what you would like to achieve and I'll suggest a sensible place to begin — with no obligation.
